When a body washes up on the shore of Lake Michigan, small town reporter Tracy Quinn has a front-page story on her hands. Tracy’s detective boyfriend, Frank Kolowsky, soon identifies the body as that of a young man who may have attended a bonfire on the beach the night before, but circumstances surrounding his death remain murky. The young man’s parents say their son had no enemies and can’t understand why anyone would want to hurt him. As summer kicks into gear in their tourist town, Frank investigates a rash of illnesses at a summer camp not far from where the body washed up. It appears Chicago developers have their eye on camp property, which is prime Lake Michigan real estate. Could someone be determined enough to get their hands on it that they’d deliberately sabotage the camp—and even go so far as to commit murder?
